Nike has a program called Nike Reuse A Shoe. The program takes old shoes and uses them to rebuild play grounds and running tracks. The Reuse A Shoe program benefits urban schools and low income area parks. Drop off sites are available at most athletic shoe stores, or you can locate a facilty via the Nike website.

Your local Recycling Center may or may not take them. Call ahead to see if they're willing. Other then that there are local and National Recycling Centers for Hard-to-Recycle items.

You can take any athletic shoe (it does not have to be Nike)to your nearest Nike store. Nike collects old shoes and they are recycled into playgound safety surfacing.

If your shoes are still usable, a donation to Salvation Army or Goodwill helps others and reduces waste. Worn-out running shoes can ber recycled by Nike and others.

You can give them as hand me downs. Give to the salvation army, or Nike's Reuse-a-Shoes program. Put them in a free box or make a garden sculpture or a plant pot out of them.

If the shoes are still viable, consider donating them so someone else can use them. You can take them to your local Goodwill, or send them to an organization like Eco-Cycle. If they are beyond salvaging, Nike's Reuse-a-Shoe will grind the rubber soles and use them to create playing surfaces.

The best way to "recycle" old shoes is to give them to charity or drop them off at a place like Goodwill. There are many people who are in need and would make good use of your shoes.

There are alot of places that take old shoes? If they are childrens you can take to a school. If they are mens, many men shelters take shoes and distribute them to the homeless. Womens shoes also go to the homeless. The best start is homeless shelters.
