How can I prevent my cat from getting "hot spot?"

He's been to the vet three times already.

Yes. Here are some precautions for a hot spot free kitty: Always have fresh, clean water for them, bath them regulary with flea shampoo, and brush them on a regular basis. Also be sure you cat gets adequate amount of zinc and vitamin E. Zinc helps the immune system, skin and hair. Vitamin E protects againist pollutants.

A cool tea compress is one. It can be green or black tea. Cool tea can also be used as a wash.

You need to find out what's causing the hot spot. Oftentimes skin problems can be solved by changing a cat's food.

You can bring your cat to another vet for more options and opinions. You should check the diet of your cat. Make sure he drinks water and have proper diet. Make sure that the litter box is clean and sanitized.
