Basically what you want to do is make sure that you wash your hands before you eat. Take vitamin c and eat healthy. Rest often.

Usually an episode will have no great ill effects and will just work its way through your system without treatment. Because it is caused by a virus, antibiotics will not help. They can be prescribed, however, if a secondary infection arises, for example in a strep throat, but otherwise rest, good food and lots of drinks are recommended.

Espstein-Barr-virus(EBV), herpes-virus-family-member, has no-specific-treatment, other than relieving its-symptoms: Drink plenty-of-fluids. Gargle with warm-salt-water to ease a sore-throat. Get plenty-of-rest. Take acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain-&-fever. You should AVOID contact-sports while the spleen is swollen (to prevent spleen from rupturing). There are experimental-clinical-trials of EBV/herpes-anti-viral-drugs (Valaciclovir/Valtrex).

As of right now, there are no specific antivirals for Epstein Barr virus. The best treatment is symptomatic, which may include rest and healthy eating. Avoid contact sports if you have splenomegally as a result of the EBV.

My daughter has been diagnosed with a recurring version of the Epstien-Bar virus which is commonly referred to as Mononucleosis. We have been told that the only treatment is rest. Her doctor made it very clear that he does not mean strict bed rest, only slowing down until she does not feel fatigued.

Well if you want to manage this, you want to take as much vitamin c as possible. Make sure you also eat a lot of fruits that are rich in potassium as well. So therefore, that will be the best thing to do at the moment. Also, just eat a lot of soup.

First of all, I'm sorry you're sick. Rest lots, take vitamins to aid your immune system and avoid contact sports or heavy lifting. Epstein-Bar can make your liver swell and it's best to avoid a hospital trip if possible. You simply have to grin and bear it. There's no treatment for Epstien-Bar or Mono.
