How can I make my own airplane mailbox?

I am a pilot.

You have to start with a mailbox approved from the post office. They you can design anything you want to put on the approved mailbox. I would look for a magnet heavy plastic sheet that would go over the box with planes on it.

Yes, you can attach wooden wings to the sides of a regular rectangle mail box, and add a wooden propeller to the front, and paint as desired.

You can start off with a regular mailbox, than add wings and the shape of an airplane to that. Once the "body" is done, paint it.

I would recommend using a hollow log for the body of the airplane. Then simple 2x4 pieces of woods can be cut into the wing shapes. Use nails to assemble.
