Making money selling tropical fish, as a hobbyist is just that, a hobby. Many people who start on this path do it for the pleasure they receive not the money. If however, you can find a store or source to buy your fish on a consistent basis, you can make a decent profit.

Breeding guppies is not likely a profitable endeavor. However, if you would like to make a small profit margin breeding guppies, it is usually best to ensure that you have enough guppies to continually have fish that are "birthing" guppies. Selling them to private customers, as opposed to retail stores or pet shops will likely be more profitable.
