Use string or ribbon complimenting the decor of the wreath itself.You can attach that ribbon on top of the door with a nail that winds up flush with the top of the door, and still allows the door to be closed. This is also an area the will never show a hole after moving out

To make a wreath hanger one idea would be to bend a clothes hanger into shape and cut it if necessary. Then cover it with a pretty fabric or yarn. Alternatively, buy metal strips at a craft store or hardware store and braid one and then shape it to fit.

Make an easy wreath hanger with ribbon. Put a screw in the top of the door (low, so the door closes) and wrap ribbon around it. Attach to the wreath.

Get a piece of soft copper, usually from your hardware store, and bend at each end in opposite directions. This will hang over your door while holding the wreath securely.
