The best way to heal the tree is try to attatch the missing bark. Look around and try to find as much of the bark as you can. Using masking tape, tape the bark back on the tree in the pattern it is growing. Check the bark everyday and once you feel the tree accept it remove the tape.

There's no way to speed up the healing process. What you want to do is to protect it while it heals. The easiest way is to take a piece of burlap and wrap it around the damaged area a few times, but not to tight. Then use string or duct tape to hold it on there while it heals.

Placing a fibrous tarred patch can save the tree, or grafting bark from a similar tree could help. You can also just leave the tree to its own devices

Placing a fibrous tarred patch can save the tree, or grafting bark from a similar tree could help. You can also just leave the tree to its own devices, as they are able to heal themselves easily in the absence of other problems.
