First, clean all the areas that have been sprayed with an enzymatic cleaner so the cat won't smell the urine and keep marking them. Then use a pheromone product like Feliway around the areas to prevent spraying. If the cat isn't spayed or neutered, getting that done may also help.

The best thing to do to keep your male cat from spraying in and around your home is to have him neutered. That's the most common remedy for that problem. If your cat is already neutered, and is still spraying, you should take him to a veterinarian to have his renal system checked for possible problems.

If your cat isn't already spayed or neutered, this might be the first thing to try. Although it's not a remedy in every single case, it is in most. Have your vet check for certain physical causes, like a UTI, to treat. If that doesn't work, think about consistency. Cats need familiarity to feel comfortable and safe.
