Its very rare. To be a calico it must have the trait on both x chromosomes. Females are xx an males are xy. So, for a male cat to be a calico he would have to have xxy. Its kinda possible but its very rare.
Whoever says they do not exist needs to research a little. They do exist but are ALL sterile because of genetics (XXY instead of XY). And yes they are very rare. Oh and the person above does not know for a fact because their facts are wrong lol
They are possible but very rare. To be a calico cat, it must have the trait on both x chromosomes. Females are xx and males are xy. So unless a male has xxy (possible, but unlikely), he can't be calico.
He is wrong. There are male calico cats but it is rare because of the genetics involved. Also male calico cats are usually sterile and can't reproduce.
It is a true statement. Calico coloring is only apparent in females. Males are typical black. Thats why Calico moms produce only females that carry the same trait. The males of the litter will be black or dark brown. There are other breeds of cat that will produce males with multi-coloring but none like the female Calico.
I know, for a fact, that there are no male calico cats. There are only female calico cats. The reason for this is that the ability to produce a calico is carried on the x chromosome and therefore can only be carried through the female line from generation to generation.
