How can I fix a computer fan?

My computer is a HP dv1000?

You should get HP to either fix it for you or give you a replacement to put in yourself (the latter is cheaper) since it seems a lot of CPU fans with that model number are defective. The appropriate number for this is 1800-227-8164.

It is probably easier to buy a new fan and replace it, they're cheap if you look online and will be much less hassle than fixing it.

Since this is a laptop you can try to find out if it is a standard part and get a replacement to put in. If this involves taking off the complete bottom of the laptop be aware that this can become very difficult and you can damage your laptop in the process.

It's usually easier to simply just get a new fan. Most fans now are pretty cheap, and will save you time from tracking down a potential electrical issue with the fan.
