Your local high school or adult education program may have college counseling. The Admissions Offices in most community colleges has excellent information, and can direct you to a variety of sources. There are professional (paid)counselors who are useful for people in unusual circumstances. The Public Library will offer books on choosing and preparing for college.

You'll get the best college admissions counseling from the actual college you'd like to attend, so do some research on which schools and programs would be the best fit for you and contact their admissions offices individually. Good luck!
