Since most commercial dyes available in the discount store are hot-water soluble, it is not advised to use one for a wool sweater.

You can dye a wool sweater right in your washing machine. Make sure you don't add detergent and choose a gentle cycle. Don't put it through the spin.

First of all you shouldn't get a wool sweater wet. It will shrink up. If you want to dye it see a professional dry cleaner for help.
Answer by TwoToneDodge (2204)
Heat the dye in a large pot and let cool. Put the wool sweater in and stir around until the sweater looks saturated.
