First you must know if you are watering the plant correctly. Over or under-plants can look diseased. If you know the amount of water is okay next look for spots on the leaves or stems. Brown, rotted areas, white patches or white fuzzy spots can mean a disease or bug infestation.

There are a few basic symptoms to tell whether or not your plant has a disease or some other ailment or pests. The first is whether there are black or dark spots on the plant. Another is white spots not associated with bugs. Finally, raised blisters on the stem or leaves are a sure sign of disease.

First you must ask why am I asking this question. Is it because of leaves turning brown and dropping off,it could be from not enough watering or overwatering.
