Does laser hair removal hurt?

I am seriously considering quite a bit of laser hair removal and I keep hearing different stories about the pain.

I am currently getting laser hair removal treatments. I get it done on my legs, bikini area, bum, underarms and upper lip. It actually feels like someone is snapping a hot rubber band against your skin. It only hurts for a few seconds and then it goes away. Good luck.

I had laser hair removal on my upper lip. It felt like someone was popping me with rubber bands. The pain only lasted for a few minutes after the procedure was done. I had mine done on my lunch hour and nobody could even tell.

It's extremely painful. Most places that offer laser hair removal also offer an optional numbing creme. That usually helps.

It can hurt, but it depends on a lot of factors. Typically the first session hurts more than subsequent sessions, because one of the biggest factor for pain is the thickness of the hair. It will get thinner over time. Other factors include area treated, pain tolerance, and body type.

it feels like a hot pinch each time they put the laser to your skin. But the intensity depends on the thickness and darkness of hair. The thicker and darker the more you feel the pinch.

It's not very painful, but there is a numbing cream that i use to ease the pain called Emla that you apply to the area being lasered in advance, i found with that it's a bit bearable :)

There is different types of lasers, ones that actually touch the skin and ones that don't, the one that touches the skin hurts just a little.
