yes every baby have a soft portion on his head. this will be slowly disappeared between the time of his birth and 18 months.

yes the bones have not completely formed or fused and the spot needs to be protected, eventually with normal developemnt they will fused together and the soft spot will be gone. This usually happens in the first 6 to eight months of the babies life,but the head still needs to be protected
