What are some ideas for soft dishes?

My grandfather can't chew certain foods. I don't want him to feel like he's eating baby food.

Baked mac'n'cheese or homemade mashed potatoes and gravy are quite soft while still being real food. Casseroles made with stuffing and soft vegetables like peas could be made, or boxed noodle dinners with soft proteins like packaged tuna. Shepherds pie made with ground meat is a soft favorite here!

Try carrots and potatoes cut to bite size pieces, rolled in a bit of olive oil and seasonings of choice and baked at 400ยบ for an hour; tasty and tender.

I would offer him pasta dishes, with the vegetables and meat chopped quite finely and cooked slowly over a long period of time to tenderize anything too solid.

Soups are great idea, and can be very inexpensive. Try roasting some squash in the oven, then pureeing it with onions, garlic, some stock, and whatever seasonings you have on hand. Pureed beans are also a good option. Refried beans and falafel balls can also be made with some onions, garlic, cooked beans or chickpeas, and spices.
