Most if not all microwaves draw quite a bit of power. If you look in the owners manual, if not labeled directly on the oven itself, a seperate 20 amp circuit is recommended to avoid blowing fuses, and triping breakers.
Most electric appliances that did not ship with the stove originally will use standard outlet type (110 volt US). Microwaves are generally low-amperage appliances and do not require special outlets.
There are generaly two options when you buy an over the oven microave/hood vent. You can choose how you want to supply power, with either a standard 110 volt plug, or direct wiring. If you choose to use a standard plug and outlet, make sure you use a grounded cord and plug.
