Look at outlet you are plugging into. There must be a metal box that you can run your wire into, or you need to add a metal extension box (must be weatherproof if outdoors). Then add a connector, remove plug end, run cord into box, and make up. If disconnecting means is required, add switch where receptacle was located.

First take the front plate off the circuit panel and with a voltmeter determine where you can attach both sides of the AC and GND. Then turn off the breaker and determine there is no voltage. Proceed by running one wire at a time to the plug. Use a tester.
