Do you have to download a special program to use text shortcuts?

Most phones have a feature in their text messaging options to save shortcuts. Look at the options in an open text message and look for something like "save to quick text" or along those lines to save a sentence or phrase to your phone.

If you would like to use text shortcuts such as lol or rofl, simply type them on your phone instead of typing out the whole word. For example, instead of typing laugh out loud just quickly type lol. As you get the hang of it, your typing speed will increase.
