I've never heard a wild hawk, but I've seen them circling. Do they make noise? How do they alert others of food or danger?

The red-tailed hawk does make a screeching noise. As for alerting others of food and danger, most hawks stick to themselves except during mating.

Yes, the make noise rarely. Not when they are hunting than you can see them shaking a bit. In danger they make noise, similarly like an eagle.
