Do pregnant women have a lowered libido?

Having a pregnant girlfriend, I've read What To Expect When You're Expecting... it talks about an increased libido during pregnancy. And I can vouch for that. The first trimester is rough with the morning sickness and nausea... but the 2nd and 3rd - it's on!

It honestly depends on the woman. Some have higher libidos during pregnancy and some have lowered libidos. For me it was higher, but for my sister it was lower.

This ultimately depends on the woman. Some may experience a lowered libido, as result of hormonal changes, while others may become more self-conscious about their appearance and therefore have a reduced interest in sexual activity. Whereas in other women, pregnancy either has no libido-lowering effect or it may actually increase.

It really depends on the stage of the pregnancy as to whether a woman may have a lowered, or, indeed, a raised libido. During the first trimester morning sickness and other attendant symptoms often lower libido, however, during the latter stages of pregnancy, many women may experience raised sex drive.

some pregnant women have lower lilbido but it all depends on the person. some have the same and some have lower
