With any animals, particularly exotic ones, pregnant women need to be careful about getting salmonella from their feces. The same also follows for reptiles.

Toxoplasmosis, a disease contracted from cat feces, is harmful for pregnant women. Feces of any kind contains potentially harmful bacteria for anyone, and should be handled with care or avoided entirely. Hand washing is an excellent preventive measure, too.

There is a specific disease associated with cat feces. If you have been around cats or armadillos previous to becoming pregnant then you are most likely immune.
