As a recent convert to "palm bowling", I have found advantages over the standard method of holding a ball. I have pain in my fingers that is exacerbated by the motion of releasing a ball. Palm bowling bypasses this issue. Additionally, I can control the amount of backspin that I apply to the ball more than with standard bowling styles.

No, there are advantages in a particular style unless you're very accurate with the placement of the ball on the lane. I have bowled on the pro tour for a number of years and there have been traditional and non traditional players who were all successful due to accuracy.

No they do not not have an advantage. The most successful bowlers in the history of the game have been the players that can be accurate and have enough power to strike. Having an overpowering strike ball does not guarantee any type of advantage if the player is not accurate.

In my opinion yes, bowling with the palm keeps the ball free in your hand and keeps fingers from getting stuck in the holes when you go to throw the ball.

Palm bowling to standard curving no one has the advantage, its based on the person. They do have an advantage over straight bowlers however.

Palm bowlers can make a ball approach the pocket from a wide angle, and improve pin action. They may be less accurate, however, when it comes to converting spares.

Everyone has a unique style that helps them achieve their best results. Traditional bowlers have more control with the use of the fingers. Palm bowlers are generally inconsistent.
