Do ceiling fans need to be oiled?

As far as i know, ceiling fans do not necessarily need to be oiled. I have never had to oil any of my celing fans. If they ar enot working properly or you hear squeaking sounds coming from it, than oiling it may actually be a good idea. Other than that maintenance is not required.

Ceiling fans attach to an electric motor which turns the device, and nothing else. Typically only equipment that has many mechanical components, typically those that are metal and grind against other metal components require oiling. A celing fan is a simple design, and doesn't interact with any other components that would cause friction. So a Ceiling fan doesn't require oiling.

I have owner my ceiling fan for more than ten years and in all of that time i have never oiled my ceiling fan so I would say you do ot need to oil your ceiling fan.

Some ceiling fans are designed to need occasional oiling. Others are designed to not be frequently oiled (using sealed bearings).
