Do Beagles make good watch dogs?

Beagles make excellent watch dogs due to their keen sense of hearing and smell. Their bark is also very loud to notify you and scare of intruders.

A Beagle would not be my number one choice for a watch dog, because of the small size and hound type disposition. A beagle is more catered towards smelling than listening for intruders. I would choose a breed that has historically been used to guard, such as a German Shepherd or Doberman.
