The true value of an instrument boils down to a few things: The level of craftsmanship involved, if the person who manufactured it is name brand, and if it's antiquated.

Antique brass instruments, when cared for properly, have much value. The antique brass allows for a great sound, especially on the french horn. The tone quality it GREAT. However, when not cared for the instruments can have little or even no value, or quality.

It depends on their condition and the market for them in your area. Try looking for online auctions for instruments that are similar to what you have to see what the going prices are. Then you can either sell online yourself, donate them to a worthy cause, or find an instrument shop to sell them outright or on consignment.

Some do - there are old instruments with collector appeal. Any instruments made by Adolphe Sax are very collectible, remember that he also invented the Saxhorns for brass bands. Some vintage instruments have player appeal, eg. old Selmer trumpets and a lot of old trombones are valued for their tone.

Value in a brass instrument all comes down to quality and condition. An antique brass instrument in good condition and great sound quality could be worth a lot. If it is in poor or low condition or does not have good sound they can be worth next to nothing. The key is preservation.
