Sling back shoes are made for summer, with the open heel and some with open toe. Black shoes are usually associated with winter, but a black shoe of this style would suffice for summer, providing you wear them with the appropriate clothing and not with cut-off shorts. That would be tacky!

Yes you definitely can. Black is always in style. Summer is just also a good time to wear more fun, bright colored shoes that you can't wear year round. Black never goes out of style.

Yes, depending on the fabric of the shoe. Most will work year round but stay away from velvet and suede which are wintery.
