The older BMW engines have a vane style air flow sensor that fails quite often. I would guess that yours has failed and the computer (motronic) is dumping too much fuel into the engine. Since motronic is especially complex to repair, I would get this vehicle to a qualified BWM technician.

Did you change your exhaust system? If you do this could be one reason. The others, may be its timing needs to be adjusted. The ECC and fuel management system may not be willing for a good distribution. Or, you have not pump in a clean fuel. You may even have a lemon car.

If your motor sputters, the most likely cause is a vacuum leak. Check the air intake boot and vacuum lines. Check the fuel pressure regulator and air flow meter as well as those are other likely causes. If it does it at idle, then you probably have a vacuum leak. Make sure the oil dipstick is in place.

check your crank shaft sensor if it did not move and the clearance is 1 mm gap i think this is to close and when the car gets hot the clearance closes.
