Can you tell me how to prevent the cat from getting out of the doggie door?

Unless you remove the doggy door the cat isn't going to stop going out it. Once the cat figures out that it can get it out it won't stop it.

This can be a challenge. Try spraying a citris based product around the door opening as a lot of cats do not like it and will avoid it. training with a water sprayer can also be effective but you need to be in the right place at the right time.

You are going to have to get a latch for the doggy door. This is the only way to keep it closed. The problem here is that the dog will not be able to use the door either. This means that you are going to have take the time to let the dog out on your own.
