Can you tell me how to find a melody for your songs that you write?

If you want the actual melody (the notes) you write that, if you want lyrics, you can hire a poet or songwriter to compose something to fit the music you've composed.

If there is already a set of chords, or chord progression, in the song, get comfortable with them. While the first chord is sounding, sing one of the notes in that chord. From there, you can move, using scalular movement or skipping notes, to another note in the scale. Be mindful of the chords and your rhythmic intentions.

It is usually easier to write a song after the melody! But try looking at the words. Figure out if its a major key or a minor key song. Soon it should just come to you.

This is pretty hard to explain. Basically what I do is mess around on my instrument until I find something that sounds cool... that's all there is to it!
