When dealing with depression you have to be selfish. You are your own best advocate. It could be that you are not getting enough exercise and/or are not eating right. It could also be that you are just being too hard on yourself.
Depression can make you fell bad, sick without beeing ill, can make you tink about hurting yourself or worse.. Don't give up, you can still see the beauty of life, the color of sunset or the green of grass. Live it up !
The first thing you should do is find a good counsellor. There are plenty of medications used to treat depression, sometimes it takes awhile to find the right one.
Depression robs you of your energy and your joy. People sometimes advise a depressed person to "snap out of it". Easier said than done. Talk with your doctor about medication. Antidepressants can create chemical balance in a brain where an imbalance may exist. Don't accept the status quo. It's treatable.
The important thing is to try to figure out what factors in your life are contributing to your depression. Which factors can you change? Work on those.
Remembering that life could be ten times better after dealing with depression can keep you going. Also, joining a group, either locally or online can be very helpful.
You have taken the first step by recognizing you have a problem. Now get your self to a counselor or program so you can get the help you need and not let this problem defeat you.
When one has depression is it difficult not to give up. Remember it is an illness. Everyone deserves stability and some happiness in their lives. Everyone, especially you!
Make sure that you are taking your depression medication. Try to do things that you like to do or that bring you joy to keep you happy. If work for you go talk to a Therapist. It can be helpful sometimes to let everything out and talk to someone.
