Stay away from anything a woman would consider intimate, such as bath products; perfume; a silk scarf (practical, woolen scarfs in a dark, solid color or a plaid are OK), or flowers. Buy her a useful product that she can use at the office, or a pound of her favorite coffee or tea. Pretty candles are always welcomed by women.

Buy her something related to a hobby that she has. If she likes to knit, get her some really nice yarn she might not normally buy. If she likes nature, buy her a field guide for when she goes hiking. Something that shows you put some thought into it.
