This could be for two reasons. First, some woman are naturally competitive. Second, you may be acting as if you are more attractive and that is a turn off.
Not so good looking women don't want attractive friends because the guys only want you, not the friend. Of course, you might not have an attractive personality.
Some women are just jealous because they don't or they think they don't look attractive. Others find attractive women more ignorant and rude. Some people just have a harder time making friends. Just keep trying.
