Can you help me understand "Because I Could Not Stop for Death" by Emily Dickinson?

I am reading it for school.

In the first verse, a play on stop-she didn't want to stop living/death stopped(by)to take her away. Second: She plays that she chooses to go because of his patience. The sixth verse describes the grave, and the last verse tells us that she has been dead for centuries, but each seems shorter than the day she realized she was dying.

Someone who is too busy for death (the act) but Death (the character) finally finds her. The speaker actively chooses to go with him.
