Shaving is all about prep. Shave right after showering with your face still wet. Use a quality shaving cream, one that doesn't come in a can. Use very little pressure on the razor, DO NOT move the razor across your skin parallel to the blades. Take your time. Use multiple passes: with, across, then against the grain of your beard.

Start by shaving with the grain of your hair, moving towards your chin. Next always make vertical strokes. Never move the razor horizontally on your face you will cut yourself.

You need to go slowly and take your time. Make sure your face is moist and use lots of shaving cream. You might also consider changing your brand of razor.

First, make sure you are using a safety razor. Secondly, shaving cuts typically come from moving the razor side to side. For the best shave, go against the grain of the hair(typically an upwards motion) and do not move the blade sideways against your skin. Shaving cream also helps, because it makes the motion smoother.
