Only time can heal that wound and it's really not a good place for you to be if you fear you will be the rebound relationship. Take a break and let him turn to his friends more because the fact is that this is just going to cause pain and issues with a relationship you two might one day have.

If that someone is stuck on his ex wife, he is not prepared for another relationship. He will be when he will feel the curiosity to find what is special about other women, beginning to forget his obsession. Any case do not talk about things connected to his ex.
