Can you get sunburn under water?

I will be swimming all day, so do I still need sunscreen?

Yes you most definitely can still get burnt from the sun's rays even when you are under water. There are some great products out there that are specifically made for protecting the skin while under the water. They are usually called sweatproof or waterproof. Just make sure that the SPF is a higher one.

Do not be lured into a false sense of security while enjoying the cool temperature under water! You can absolutely get sunburned while you are under water. Be sure to wear an effective waterproof sunscreen!

Yes, it is very important that you wear sunscreen! You can burn in the water just as if you were not in the water. Water will not stop UV rays.

Yes, you will need sunscreen (waterproof kind) as sun can penetrate the water and be reflected by it, and, remember, you're not under water the entire time as you come up for air.
