Yes. A person can get paid by playing video games either as a video game tester or by winning tournaments. Winning tournaments can bring in the most amount of money but, it will be a lot harder since the player entering the tournament will be facing another skilled competitor or team.

There are gaming websites such as GameSpot or IGN that have people who get paid to review video games. Generally they don't play the game too long before moving onto the next one.
