I actually asked my doctor a very similar question. He told me that some muscle aches can be related to hormonal changes primarily because of the stress we go under especially when starting menopause. It is not common however and he did some tests just to be sure.

Leg pain can be hormonal, but usually only during pregnency. During pregnency you hormones change so dramtically can cause changes in your muscles and joints. If you are not and have not recently been pregnent, there should be no hormonal cause for your lower leg pain. You will want to visit your doctor as soon as possible.

When you have a higher amount of estrogen in your body, during periods or pregnancy, it increases blood flow so it can give you leg cramps.

It is remotely possible; however the possibility of a pinched spinal nerve in the lower back, or even inflammation of nerves in the general area is more likely.
