yes, but craft store glitter does not show up. Lowes sells granite crystals to add to granite paint,(Valspar Signature paint) but I use it in regular paint. Beautiful subtle glitter. Use only with Valspar paints to achieve glitter. Can repaint right over with any paint.

We just added 2 packs of gold Valspar glitter to a gallon of paint. The effect is very very very subtle. Not sure if it was worth the 6$ a pack. If you wipe down your walls after the paint dries, it polishes the glitter & makes it shine more.  add a comment

If yo want real glitter use the paint from sparklingwalls dot com. This is a package of powder and glitter you only have to mix with water. When it is ready you can roll it on the walls. One package is enough to paint up to 15 square meters. easy!  add a comment

I have used Valspar's granite crystals product and had great results. Not only does the paint have a subtle shimmer to it when the light hits it, the walls are not too glittery. Its less than 10 bucks for the packet. love it!

but do you have to use their paint? We don't have a Lowe's where we live, just a Home Depot.  add a comment

I mixed a tube of fine glitter into a can of latex paint and used a roller to roll it on. Turned out beautiful. It only sparkles where light catches it, creating this ethereal, fairyland effect. Candles and ropelights add to the subtle drama when needed. Good Luck!

Home Depot sells paint with the glitter in it, or you can rent a machine that blows the glitter on your freshly painted walls.

You should get paint with glitter already mixed in it. You can get it at any home store. i.e. Home Depot, Ace, Lowes. If you try mixing regular glitter in regular house paint it won't work the way you probably want it to.

In the 70s they used to have this stuff called acoustic ceilings, sometimes called "popcorn ceilings" and some people opted for glitter. The installers had a device that would distribute the glitter on the textured surface right after they applied it. The glitter would adhere to the wet material.

I don't think that is going to give you the effect you are looking for because the paint will coat most pieces of glitter, so you are going to just get a bumpy texture. You would need some way to spray the glitter on the wet paint.

Try adding craft store glitter to clear Polycrylic and apply over the painted surface.

I used this paint(Valspar granite), in navy blue(really cool) and a lighter blue(pretty), use roller first coat 1/2" cover and then brush 1 to 2 coats in chris cross pattern, use 2 packs (lowe's)cystals/gal. Looks great, have it in 3 baths. Instructions, works just as said. Paint cardboard first, practice.

Yes,you can do that. You shouldn't use craft store gliter because it doesn't show up. There are granite crystals at Lowes so they could work.

Yes, but you won't get the effect you're looking for if you actually mix it into the paint; most or all of the glitter will be covered up. You're better off painting part of a wall and then throwing glitter onto it while it's still wet.

You can pretty much put glitter in anything. The paint will not eat it away or anything just make sure you put enough in the paint that it will show up good or you could also put in the big chunks of glitter that they have now at art stores.

It sounds like an interesting idea, but when you get bored of that surface, don't forget that it might be pretty difficult to remove. Regular paint can just be painted over, but the glitter layer will have to be removed if you ever grow tired of the appearance.

the lowes valspar with added glitter works perfectly, no mess. I used the "man cave" silverish color with a flat finish and two packets of glitter and my dining room is all sparkly and awesome...my wife LOVES it!
