It's quite normal to go a long way into the sugar pills without a period - it says so on the information you should get with your pill. Particularly if she's only just started to take the contraceptive pill, she will not begin bleeding immediately.

Absolutely, the only birth control method that is 100% effective is abstinence. The pill when used properly is 95% effective, but missed pills can greatly decrease effectiveness.

Actually perfect use can be as effective as 99.7% - the pill is one of the most effective forms of contraceptive.  add a comment

Yes, it's possible. Birth control pills are not considered 100% effective. Also, it depends on whether she missed taking any pills during the month.

Alhough rare, a woman can become pregnant on the pill. It does not have a perfect 100% rate and the contraceptove effect can be weakened by sickness.

There could be many reasons why someone is late on their period. You could get a pregancy test at the drug store or wait to see what happens next month.

While the birth control pill is the most effective form of birth control, aside from abstinence, it is not fool proof. If your girlfriend missed a pill, or was taking any other form of medication she could very well be pregnant.

She has also not been on antibiotics, never missed taking a pill and always takes them within the hour she is meant to..

I get my period 3-5 days into my pill-free week. It's perfectly normal, particularly at lower doses.  add a comment
