Boston ivy does not do damage to cement and brick. But Boston ivy should not be used on anything that is made up of wood. because it has the ability to promote rot.

Unlike others, it does not damage brick. Under 5 years it will not cause a problem, but like any ivy you have to exercise judicious care.

Being an extremely aggressive grower, this plant must be kept under control. The vines attach themselves to anything nearby, by means of "suckers", which allow it to grab and hold on. These "suckers" are able to grow into all areas of a home, into vinyl siding, fascias, and can destroy if not kept an eye on.
