An employer has every right to ask a physician to verify an appointment or to verify clearance to return to work. An employer cannot ask for details of the visit.

If an employee is absent for three days in a row a doctor's excuse is necessary. Also if an employee is abusing sick time, one can be requested.

Yes, they can. If you are gone for a really long time on sick leave they can request a doctors note to ensure that you're not just faking it.

If you have been out sick for an extended period of time your employer may ask for a docotrosnote, You should review your employment handbook for what the companies require but many ocmpanies require this if you have been out of work for over 3 days.
