Can a subcontractor remove product installed in a Minnesota house for non-payment by contractor?

It depends on what was installed. Appliances could perhaps be removed. Flooring or windows cannot. Generally, the subcontractor would place a lien on the property, thus requiring the contractor to clear it before the house could be titled to new owners.

The correct way for him to proceed is to file a lien, or pursue a suit against the contractor. If he shows up at your door to take something out, call the police. The issue is between him and his "employer"- the contractor who hired him, his gripe is not with you.

Complicated question, there are a lot of variables to consider, but the short answer is yes. A contractor is liable to you and the sub-contractor is liable to the contractor, if any party defaults on payment then the offended parties have the right to seek recompense. They are also allowed to remove materials from the job that they paid for.

no sub contractor can not remove product instlled by the contractor how ever its required to know the terms and conditions of the contract/ deed
