A standard jack is only able to lift about 1 ton. There are hydrolic jacks towing companies use which could support a much heavier weight and would be much safer to use.
Car jacks are rated by weight. A standard car jack is usually rated from between 1.5 and 3 tons. Generally it can support slightly more than it is rated for but it is not advised.
