Question by  Goog (46)

Can you repair an earphone jack for an MP3 that has broken?

I dropped my MP3 player last night and as a result the ear phone jack has broken.

If you're handy with a soldering iron, you could possibly mend the broken piece or put in a replacement. This is no easy task though, so it's probably done for.

You could probably repair it, but it would be substantially cheaper if you just bought a new MP3 player than trying to fix it.

It depends on what broke. If it is the plastic, you can't. But it he connection to the circuit board broke, you could re-solder it.

If it is repairable than you will either have to re-solder the old jack back on or solder in a whole new jack.

you should be able to fix it quite easily if the jack broke off with the solder attached not the circut board. dismantle mp3 remove all excess solder with a heat gun clean board completely. re attach jack using new solder and a solder gun
