While it is possible for birds of prey to kill most anything they put their minds to killing, cats are a challenge. Depending on the type of hawk, type of cat and age of each party, the possiblility also changes. The simple answer, however, is yes.

In the right circumstances, a hawk absolutely has the ability to kill/eat a cat. Hawks are harsh predators, and small cats/kittens are a prefect prey for them.

Hawks view cats as prey, just like a rabbit or squirrel. With their sharp beaks and strong claws, they can easily dispatch a cat.

Yes, a hawk can certainly kill a cat. It depends on the size of the hawk and the size of the cat; but it is definitely possible.

Hawks eye samll prey. If the cat is small or its a kitten a hawk could in theory take it. Chances though are slim.

Yes, my husband just watched it happen today. Cat almost fully grown, husband saw it twitching to its death. It didn't carry it away, but what good is your cat if it is dead?

Sure they can eat a young cat/kitten but they wouldn't attemp against a fully matured male cat. My friends cat was found eating a large bird(turns out to be a hawk) with its kittens and that was a female. Imagine a male which is larger, stronger and weighs more
