Yamaha makes some excellent models of guitar, but they are considered a standard rather than luxury manufacturer. Try Ovation, Martin, Takamine, Taylor or Gibson.

They aren't at the top of the line but their stuff is quality. It's hard to see how someone who makes everthing from lawnmowers to flutes would have any quality control, but Yamaha has a very impressive line of musical instruments.

Yamaha acoustic guitars tend to be top of the line because the yamaha company is a multinational and well known corporation that usually makes great musical products.

No. I would say they are good starting guitars or mid-level quality and cost a lot of the time. There may be some that are made very well, but most are weak guitars that do not stand up to some of the other big brands.

Yamaha is far from 'top of the line'. Gibson and Martin are the 'old guys' in the business, but people like 'Crafters of Tennesse', making 'Taylor' guitars, are really sounding better than the two I just mentioned. I see many more bluegrass musicians playing Taylors at festivals.

Yamaha has some models of guitars that would be considered top of the line. But their expertise is really providing guitars for beginning and intermediate players that are easily played.

Yamaha acoustic guitars are not generally known to be top of the line, but are definitely very good quality. They do not compete with Martin and Gibson for overall sound, but at their price they are a high mid-level guitar.

Yamaha acoustics are not top of the line the way Martin guitars are. However, Yamaha makes very nice instruments that are satisfying to play unless one is a totally top-notch musician needing a top of the line instrument. Top of the line is probably a pre-World War II Martin D 28 or some such.

Depending on the Yamaha you get, and also by your definition of "top of the line." Yamaha's are great guitar's with good quality wood and sound. Overall, the decision on a guitar is all about how it sounds and feels to you.

They are probably not absolute top of the line (try Martin Co. for that honor) but they are very good guitars for learning on and for enjoying playing casually. If you are a high level performer, get a Martin (or whatever is considered top of the line in your type of music). If not, enjoy a Yamaha.
