No hangers are necessarily "bad" for your clothes, but some are less ideal than others. Wire can create creases in your clothing, making them need to be ironed before they're worn. Plastic, wood or fabric covered hangers that are a bit thicker will be more gentle on your wardrobe.

Wire clothes handers aren't bad for clothes in general - it depends on the type of clothing. If you have a top or jacket with padded shoulders you may prefer to use a wider wooden or plastic hanger to help the item of clothing keep its shape. Using wire hangers for normal tops such as T-shirts causes no damage.

In a word yes, they make horrible marks in the fabric. A lot of the marks won't come out and you have a ruined garment on your hands. The best choice are wooden or padded hangers, the fabrics stay in perfect condition. There are stores that have other options that don't leave creases or marks in the fabrics either.

I see no reason why they would be. I would just say be careful if they are rusty because rust isn't good for your clothes.
