While the intial prices is more they are quite durable. If you like in a area that gets a lot of rain/snow then it may be a good investment.

Vinyl shutters are easier to make stylish because they are a molded plastic. Take care though because vinyl shutters are susceptible to UV fading from the sun. Most manufacturers will make a care spray not included in the original purchase.
